If you are looking for plenty of choice and flexibility with POS systems, you have six different useful options. The pricing plans for the merchant services are a bit high, so this is something to consider.

Most of what you find through Sam’s Club Merchant Services can also be found at Fiserv, so it might be worthwhile looking at that offering also. There is 24/7 customer support available at Sam’s Club Merchant Services and a good brand behind it, so you can be sure that you are dealing with a reputable company.

Previously, Sam’s Club Merchant Services had three main types of plans on offer that had tiered pricing in place. This system was not very popular. Recently, these plans were taken away and there is not too much information about the new rates. There are two plans that Clover itself now offers directly:

Register Lite

This plan costs a base of $9.95 per month and is showcased as being a plan for businesses that will be processing under $50,000 annually. For in-person transactions, there will be a 2.7% + $0.10 charge. For keyed-in transactions, this will be 3.5% + $0.10 charge. There are numerous attached features including the ability to use hundreds of different apps on the Clover app market.

Register

This plan costs a base of $39.95 per month and is showcased as being a plan for businesses that will be processing more than $50,000 annually. For in-person transactions, there will be a 2.3% + $0.10 charge. For keyed-in transactions, this will be 3.5% + $0.10 charge.

Some of the features attached to this plan include processing exchanges, pre-authorizing a credit card, and adding gratuity to a bill. These are all things that should be offered in the basic plan too, but they are not.

The fees still seem to be a bit high across the board. There is no mention of different rates for credit card and debit card transactions. Many competitors will have much more reasonable pricing plans. There is not really mention of any sorts of additional fees or contract lengths, but the standard Fiserv contract length is four years, which is lengthy.

Finally, the Clover Go ($69) is a very small, compact, and light card reader that is ideal for those businesses which operate on the go. Except for the Clover GO, you can accept contactless payment with each system and all of these wireless systems allow you to accept debit and credit card payments.

Along with the POS systems, you will often get a few different types of apps and integrations that will help you run a more efficient operation. This includes the collation of data for the purposes of running loyalty programs, which can all be done in a simple and easy manner.
